3-Day Veterinary Dental CE Program
Program Overview
Course Overview: 3-days covering five veterinary dental disciplines. This course was designed for AVDC/EVDC residents, Fellows of the AVD and general veterinarians whose practice is limited to dentistry. Whether it is for preparation to take the AVDC/EVDC practical examination or to proceed to the next level of professional competency when offering these services in everyday practices, this course will be of great benefit.
The intensive hands-on wetlabs will include the following disciplines:
- Periodontal surgery and bone augmentation
- Restorative defect preparation and filling
- Surgical endodontics with retrograde filling
- Orthodontics with passive and active appliances
- Crown preparations with impression taking

What You’ll Learn With Us
Day #1 - Friday | Periodontics
8:00am – 9:30am | Lecture: Selected periodontal flaps (apically positioned flaps and periodontal debridement)
9:30am – 12:00pm | Lab: Participants will learn to:
- Lengthen the crown of canine teeth with apically positioning flaps (envelope and summer dress techniques)
- Perform open periodontal debridement (including alveoloplasty and root planing) at incisor teeth
1:00pm – 2:30pm | Lecture: Selected periodontal flaps (laterally positioned flaps and guided tissue regeneration)
2:30pm – 5:00pm | Lab: Participants will learn to:
- Create laterally positioned flaps for repair of gingival clefts at canine teeth
- Perform guided tissue regeneration (GTR) at canine teeth with bone replacement products and membrane
Day #2 - Saturday | Orthodontics & Restoratives
8:00am – 9:30am | Lecture: Preparation and filling of crown and crown-root defects
9:30am – 12:00pm | Lab: Participants will learn to:
- Perform subgingival restorations (following flap creation) at carnassial teeth
- Perform supragingival restorations at canine teeth
- Perform occlusal surface restorations at molar teeth
1:00pm – 2:30pm | Lecture: Creation of passive and active orthodontic appliances
2:30pm – 5:00pm | Lab: Participants will learn to:
- Create inclined planes and crown extensions for interrupted force movement of linguoverted mandibular canine teeth
- Utilize prefabricated or custom-made buttons, hooks or other attachments and elastomeric chains for continuous active force movement of mesioverted maxillary canine teeth
Day #3 - Sunday | Endodontics & Crown Preparations
8:00am – 9:30am | Lecture: Surgical endodontics of canine and carnassial teeth
9:30am – 12:00pm | Lab: Participants will learn to:
- Recognize anatomical landmarks to accurately perform mucosal and skin approaches for access to the root apices
- Perform bone fenestration, apicoectomy, defect preparation, and retrograde filling
1:00pm – 2:30pm | Lecture: Crown margin preparation and coverage
2:30pm – 5:00pm | Lab: Participants will learn to:
- Prepare and take impressions for full and partial (¾) prosthodontic crowns of canine teeth
- Prepare and take impressions for full prosthodontic crowns of carnassial teeth
- Obtain bite registrations with wax and heavy body materials
Course Dates & Registration
All courses are limited enrollment; they include breakfast, lunch, refreshments and handouts. A minimum of 16 registrants is required in order for the classes to be held. Enrollment in a particular course is based on a first come first receipt of payment. If a payment is received and the course is already filled the applicant will be immediately notified. All major credit cards are welcome.

A Comprehensive Experience
Complete wet-lab materials, necessary tools & equipment, and all course handouts are provided on-site everyday. Participants earn CE credits from the State of Maryland and RACE accreditation for most courses. Each course also includes daily breakfast, snacks, and lunch in our spacious cafe lounge.

The ADTC provides an “open forum” for discussion amongst both national and international participants about topics ranging from animal dentistry to practice management and marketing strategies.
